Anthony Messina is President and Chief Executive Officer, Worldsource Financial Management Inc.(WFM) AND Worldsource Securities Inc.(WSI), and Managing Director for Guardian Capital Advisors LP. He joined Guardian in 2016 and is Head of Private Wealth Management. He assumed the role of President, WFM and WSI, in September 2018.
Anthony’s career in the financial services industry began in 1987 at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Prior to joining GCA, Anthony spent over 10 years at BNY Mellon Wealth Management Canada (formerly I3 Advisors), most recently as President overseeing the family office-oriented wealth management business with approximately $5 billion in assets. During his tenure, he served as a member of various global operating, investment strategy and marketing committees, and as director of the Canadian and Cayman Island businesses. Previous to this Anthony was with a diversified venture capital and financial services firm as the Chief Operating Officer.
Anthony is a graduate of the Schulich School of Business. He holds the Chartered Professional Accountant designation and is a CFA® charterholder. Anthony is active in numerous charities including the Mackenzie Health Foundation focusing on their finance and investment committees, and is a director of Villa Colombo Vaughan.
Katharine (Kathie) Baran is Chief Operating Officer for Worldsource Financial Management and Worldsource Securities Inc. Kathie joined Guardian Capital Group in 2006, assuming the role of Vice President of Operations, Worldsource Financial Management Inc. (WFM) in 2010. In 2012, her role further expanded to include responsibility for operations of Worldsource Securities Inc. and Technology. In 2015, Kathie was appointed Head of Technology for Guardian Capital Group Limited, including WWM.
Kathie has a unique perspective on the financial services landscape, based on over 20 years’ experience in investment management; and the insurance, MFDA and IIROC dealer communities and manufacturing back office operations. This multi-dimensional career has allowed Kathie to develop industry expertise in a variety of functions including: sales and marketing, finance, project management, product development, as well as operations and technology. Prior to Guardian and WFM, Kathie worked in various roles at leading Canadian mutual fund companies and financial services firms.
Jacqueline Rodney is Vice President, Operations for Worldsource Financial Management and Worldsource Securities Inc., with a focus on driving results, managing risk, ensuring operational and technological efficiency, and leadership of specific strategic initiatives to support business growth. Her results-focused style and expertise in developing and executing strategy played a major role in her successes.
Jacqueline joined Worldsource in 2019 with over 30 years experience in the financial services industry. Jacqueline’s progressive career started in Calgary in the early 1980s, as an Operations Administrator for Wood Gundy and included some formative years at the Alberta Securities Commission as a Securities Investigator. Jacqueline has developed industry expertise in various functions and has led teams in Operations, Client Services, Compliance, Risk and Relationship Management for both MFDA and IIROC-regulated firms.
Prior to joining Worldsource in 2019, Jacqueline led a national team of Business Risk Consultants in overseeing Governance & Risk Controls at CIBC Wood Gundy. During her tenure at Tangerine, formerly ING Direct, she had responsibilities for Wealth Operations including Registered Products Administration and Shared Services. Jacqueline also spent a number of years at ATB Financial, a member of the team responsible for launching their Wealth Management subsidiaries. After launch she continued to lead the Operations team that supported their fully integrated MFDA/IIROC subsidiaries as self-clearing dealerships.
Jacqueline oversees the Operations team, which includes Administration, Advisor Relations and Training.
Paige Wadden is Chief Compliance Officer, Worldsource Financial Management and Worldsource Securities Inc. Paige joined Guardian Capital Group in June 2010, assuming the role of Chief Compliance Officer for Worldsource in August 2010.
Paige has developed a well-earned reputation for making compliance issues come alive in what she refers to as a “crazy industry.” Her passion for the financial services industry began over 15 years ago, commencing with her time at Fraser Milner Casgrain (now Dentons LLP), a Bay Street law firm, where she serviced the banking and investment industry, while focusing on financing, mergers and acquisitions. With this experience, Paige then assumed the role of counsel at a leading Canadian dealer and mutual fund company for five years. Following this, Paige joined BMW Canada as the head counsel of their financial services division, before returning to the investment industry when she joined Guardian.
Paige graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Kristen McElhone is Vice President, Partnerships & Business Development – Eastern Canada for Worldsource Financial Management (WFM) and Worldsource Securities Inc. (WSI). She joined Worldsource in 2015.
Kristen's career in the financial services industry began in 1999 when she joined Nesbitt Burns (now BMO Nesbitt Burns) as a liaison between front and back office operations for advisors and branches; she later transitioned into responsibilities relating to managed and fee-based programs.
Directly prior to joining Worldsource, Kristen was Director of Sales Support for the Canadian arm of an established global wealth management firm, which she joined in 2004. Previous to that role, she interacted with IIROC, MFDA and ICPM advisors across the country, through a variety of roles as a product manager, General Manager, Regional Director (wholesaler) and Vice President of National Accounts and Programs.
Trish Nielsen is Vice President, Partnerships & Business Development for Western Canada for Worldsource Financial Management (WFM) and Worldsource Securities Inc. (WSI). She joined Worldsource in January, 2015.
Trish’s career in the financial services industry began in 1999, when she joined the brokerage arm of a preeminent Canadian bank as an Investment Advisor. She also had ownership in a private insurance brokerage operation. Following that, she had a lengthy tenure as Vice President of Sales with a national investment dealer. In this role, she was responsible for sales growth across a broad range of divisions including online discount brokerage, proprietary investment fundcos, institutional, and insurance. She concurrently facilitated an ongoing practice management agenda with IIROC and MFDA licensed advisors within the dealerships’ strategic channels. Rounding out her experience prior to joining Worldsource, Trish also worked in a Vice President capacity for a global Private Client Group as a Portfolio Manager, working directly with HNW clients within a holistic investment model.
Trish is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, with degrees in International Relations and Psychology. She has held the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation since 2002, and has successfully completed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
Laura Reid is Chief Financial Officer for Worldsource Financial Management, Worldsource Securities Inc. and IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc.
Prior to joining Worldsource in 2019, Laura was a partner at KPMG where she served global clients across the banking and wealth management space. At KPMG, she also led initiatives surrounding recruiting, training and people management. Laura currently sits as Vice Chair of the Canadian Alternative Investment Management Association as well as on the Board of Hedge Funds Care, Help for Children Canada.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
